Provenance
A craft carried on the backs of migration.
Long before it hangs on a wall, a kilim travels. Nomadic weavers of the Fars and Chaharmahal regions build their looms low to the ground, dismantle them at the end of each grazing season, and rebuild them at the next encampment — carrying the half-finished weave across the mountains between.

The Weave
Slit-tapestry, not a single knot.
Unlike a knotted pile rug, a kilim carries no pile at all. Wool weft threads are passed back and forth across a stretched cotton warp until the colour blocks meet — and where they meet, the weaver leaves a deliberate slit, the signature of the technique.
Natural Dye
Madder root, walnut husk, indigo leaf and pomegranate skin.
Portable Loom
Built low to the ground, dismantled and rebuilt at the next encampment.
